This is what a blade fracture inside a jet engine can do, shaking an aircraft like a washing machine.

In 2017, an AirAsia X Airbus A330-300 suffered a Rolls-Royce Trent 700 fan blade failure caused by metal fatigue. The fractured blade was contained, but the engine sustained severe internal damage and violent vibrations, forcing the crew to shut it down, descend, and safely return to Perth.

The ATSB later found the crack originated from an internal manufacturing geometry issue, while inspection intervals were too long to reliably detect early fatigue before failure.
