@XyangXyong@SZade15 Americans and brits pronounce words differently all the time doesn’t make one wrong. No one cares how a country thinks an exonym should be pronounced
@christie_d81307@SZade15 Who decided the correct way to say Iran in an American accent? Do you not use the word Germany? It doesn’t sound like Deutschland. It’s like telling a Chinese person to say America in a perfect American accent instead of Měiguó or they are racist 🤦🏻♀️
@pdmcevoy1969@SZade15 They don’t pronounce them like that those are the English names and English people are being pedantic. All languages have their own pronunciations and names for other counties
@HarelM70473@SZade15 That isn’t how to say it in English just like we don’t say Nihon for Japan. Like the French saying Les etas unis for USA and allemande for England
@TrueTa1ent@JustALilGuy0@SZade15 It would be like harassing a Chinese person in china speaking Chinese for saying America in Chinese. We say Germany not deustchland for goodness sake. Who cares about an ih or an eye.
@OlheadKemet@SZade15 But why is it right? Because of the British saying it that way? Languages make up names for other countries. Is does allemond sound like England? Or Germany like Deutschland?
@SZade15 Easy— We learned it that way🤷🏻♀️ American news outlets and politicians widely pronounced Iran with a long "I" (Eye-ran) throughout the 1990s. This anglicized pronunciation became the standard across U.S. media, and has persisted heavily in American political speech.

@AmyPuddytat@SZade15 Is it redneck? I grew up in NY and adults in the 90 said Eyeran. only southern rednecks say eyetalian. I need to look up old news clips.
@dyecaster@veggiemayo@SZade15 According to who? We make up what we call countries. For instance France, Germany and Japan are not even close to what they call themselves. They don’t get to decide how we say it. Italy is the English word not Italia. We don’t say ee-taly.
@Wheddsta I’m from NY (suburb) and I don’t like NYC is gross and now stinks of weed instead of just piss. Anyway, it’s ok to visit for a day to go to a show but that’s it. Some people love it though.
@A_New_Day_Dawns@Luv_Xcuses So you think being a stay at home mom isn’t a luxury and the pinnacle of womanhood but akin the horrors or war and mind deadening and back breaking labor. Gotcha. Yes we know men think woman’s work sucks and y’all just lie to tell us how great it is. Im a stay at home mom lol
@Picturefrejm@theresnoyou It keeps most people from dying of heat related issues. We get it, Europeans don’t care about humans dying only the environment
@AnaLadedie@theresnoyou If waiters didn’t like their wages they would get different jobs. They largely like tipping culture and don’t push for change. Bartenders can earn 500-1000 a shift🤷🏻♀️ That ain’t happening without tips.
@werdna300@Dococtomocto@theresnoyou American waitstaff earn more than European ones. They just make it from tips. There is no outrage from the workers. The customers don’t like it but if no tips than bill would simply be night. Customers will always pay bc the profit margin is so thin in the food industry
@kjheatherIng@theresnoyou@Bahhhsil Which is more important actual Death or wanting to get paid less but be more fair? 🤷🏻♀️ (bartenders and waitstaff earn more from tips than a flat wage).
