There is nothing more patriotic than wanting everyone in America to have quality healthcare, education, livable wages, and fair treatment under the law. Leftists fall for an obvious right wing trap in ceding this ground to people who oppose all this things.
@weberc2 if you see one situation as unambiguous, but not the other, when both involve a group seizing land and displacing the people living there, i think you have a bias in your analysis
it is a pretty common bias
@weberc2 it would be helpful to know if there are *any* situations where someone’s sympathies are with a non-white population where a white population is the aggressor
@weberc2 there is a lot of anti-russian sentiment in ukraine, and it’s likely that if the occupation were to continue for several generations that hostility would naturally intensify
@weberc2 the founders held a variety of beliefs on human liberty—many good, some very bad—and those beliefs fed into documents they produced
it is necessary to examine those very bad beliefs in order to appreciate the good ones, and how both have shaped the nation
@weberc2 cathy often responds to things she doesn’t take the time to read or try to understand beyond her initial reaction
hers is a typical and tired tweet that harkens back to mccarthyism, and i find it incredibly silly
@weberc2 dotting out the faces of slavers allows people to focus on the faces that remain—faces belonging to folks who also wrote the founding documents
how much do you think the average american knows about this guy?
This is James Wilson, a great Scottish-born Pennsylvanian abolitionist who wrote, “Slavery, or an absolute and unlimited power in the master over the life and fortune of the slave, is unauthorized by the common law"

@weberc2 there’s a pretty clear difference between saying “these men were slavers and that’s a stain on their personal reputations, which we should acknowledge especially because not all of them were slavers” and “slavery bad so america bad”
the former is in OPs tweet, the latter isn’t
Rate limiting starts the day their cloud contract (that they were having trouble paying) ends. This can’t be a coincidence right?
Twitter might be much closer to dying than most of us realize.
every year the minimum wage doesn’t increase on track with inflation makes poor folks poorer and rich folks richer
refusing to raise the minimum wage is an active policy decision to make inequality worse
It’s so utterly predictable. And all of those people who were so certain Bret and Heather only had concerns about the covid vaccines will now conveniently forget this line of argument. Bret and Heather are now just bog standard anti vaccine advocates.
@TheRocsWorld @NaoimhGheilt baelor I targaryen, known in the history of westeros as “baelor the beloved”
