“Opportunities to create wealth are greater in Africa than in any other developed country. I made my first $100 million in the Nigerian stock market.

“Keeping your money in the bank will never make you wealthy. If you’re not willing to take risks, your existence is of no value. Life is full of risks. Many of us are where we are today because we took risks.

“You must be willing to take risks, but they must be calculated risks. No matter how much you have, if you’re not financially independent, you’re still a slave.”

The UK is finally waking up to the fact that "you can just do things".

19 companies have come together to build a new payment system to rival Mastercard and Visa.

They've been funding the company themselves and are now going out to raise 50 million for it.

It is well known that Mastercard and Visa have an absurd stranglehold on the payments market.

In general this has been terrible for consumers and businesses alike.

The UK's biggest banks haven't shown themselves to be great innovators, especially when they have tried to build internal alternatives to the neo-banks.

HOWEVER, the fact that so many are on board does provide a strategic advantage in disrupting the payments market.

It'll be interesting to see what happens and where this goes, although I think we can all agree they need to change the name ASAP.

The "UK Payments Delivery Company (PDC)" doesn't have much going for it.

This is how faith works, it’s not witchcraft that’s conditioning your mind to build faith

[aether @bluewdrift]

the best witchcraft i've learned is to say everything you're doing before you do it. even walking into a room. say "i'm walking into the kitchen and getting a drink," etc. after a couple of weeks, your mind has gotten used to doing what you say will happen. now your mind believes your words more and will more naturally work to make them happen.

@CoachDebs_spa If you read Terry smiths book on investing you see that ETF in itself doesn’t make sense because it’s a concentrated risk and it doesn’t analyse fundamentals

[DARKN16HT @M4XDEGEN]

Question is how were they so far ahead?? What did bank man Fried know???

[Erik Bernhardsson @bernhardsson]

A bit funny how FTX continues to make money from all the weird holdings. They bought a cube of tungsten for $200k in 2021 and tungsten prices are up 10x since then.

WARNING: DO NOT FUCKING TRY THIS SHIT

the other month i tried oxtail, never had it and nobody warned me about the side effects

seasoned it well, threw it on some cast iron gave it a good sear, thought it was just a nice meal

WRONG!!

woke up the next day with my feet hanging off the bed and a bump on my head from it hitting my bedframe. hopped out of bed in shock and slammed my forehead against the ceiling. i looked down at myself and screamed as i watched my legs growing and growing, gradually stretching me out like a spaghetti string

my life hasn’t been the same since. being 8’6 has ruined me. i can’t board flights because i can’t be physically accommodated. i can’t fit into any production vehicles, and taking public transport to get anywhere is a complete nightmare. i have to lay down in the middle aisle on the bus and strangers gawk and stare at my horrific disfigured appearance

men are absolutely disgusted by me, i no longer pass as a transwoman and it has given me horrible gender dysphoria. i lost my job because i physically could not fit into the cubicle and am waiting to be approved for disability benefits, but homelessness is nearing and i can’t even fit under any of the bridges in my city

i am warning everyone reading this — this stuff is NOT a joke, do NOT mess around with this. you will ruin your life. take it from me

The legend goes when Xi was frolicking in San Francisco a random venture capitalist walked up to him and asked “What are you building?”

Xi was confused and tried to leave the scene. The VC started chasing him yelling the same question over and over.

Xi was left so traumatized by the event that when he returned to China he just couldn’t stop building things. And that is how China became the manufacturing leader of the entire world.

Key; instead of forcing the road to obey they worked with it

[𝕾𝖎𝖗 𝕮𝖍𝖗𝖎𝖘 @eagleseyeinc]

i asked one of my contractors and he said... the longer road isn’t a mistake, that it’s just discipline.

that engineers didn’t fail to see the shortcut, they rejected it cos of many reasons. the straight line looks efficient on paper but in reality it would be too steep, too dangerous and possibly too expensive to maintain so instead of forcing the terrain to obey them, they worked with it.

the fastest path is rarely the one that survives real conditions.

what looks like delay is cam be control and what looks like inefficiency is usually an actual risk management.

Someone went completely balls deep into Marks & Spencer.

£238k account value. 100% of their ISA in a single stock. Up £47,000 tax-free.

No S&P 500. No global trackers. Just pure, unfiltered conviction that M&S is going to keep taking over the food retail space.

It's one thing going all-in on Apple or Tesla, but could you ever put 100% of your ISA into a UK supermarket?
