@gregbagwell 10,000s of Iranian are being killed by their own government. That is a fact and have been for decades. Are you saying there is no such "right to protect" @gregbagwell ? If you complete ignore a moralistic argument then countries can slaughter their own without reprise ...

@gregbagwell Thats probably fair however as we all know Optics are important and whether we like it or not the press and probably a large number of general population have picked up on said Optics. Within 1 month we have "be ready for war" followed by "the government has no plans"
@gregbagwell Im not saying the current state of defence is his fault, Im more saying that why are we in a position where a defence select committee is asking questions and are getting "politician style" non answers? That helps noone surely?

@gregbagwell You've said that the need for Ground based effectors AKA GBAD including Long image missiles is limited due to our geography and NATO Screen ... and then used a diagram showing Combat Air flying through multiple NATO Countries to combat an aggressor (Russia) at range.
@gregbagwell Surely we now need to look at how the Combat Air procurement plan can be streamlined / made more efficient vs funding it from other areas of defence?
@gregbagwell Is this not just a rehash of the CVA01 argument (minus making up where Australia is) and the Illustrious/ Harrier combination vs Tornado GR4/Typhoon. Each time we make a choice we keep coming back to Carrier Air Power as a fundamental requirement of the UK.
