What @PulaRJS says here is crucial. Many have identified a system of abuse in & around Zionism, but few have bothered to unpack it. Yet, it is this framing that must replace the current abusive one, which maintains the Israel/Palestine dynamic is one of equal parties in conflict.
@flying_rodent@NoJusticeMTG I want to say this is smart politicking but it isn't. It’s just an incestuous and extraordinarily rotten system that doesn't even bother to pretend otherwise anymore.
Going from “Getting caught setting private investigators on the Sunday Times, trying to report them as Russian stooges”, to “inexplicably pardoned, given Times column to knife his pals and promote new PM” and then “oh wow, Head of government policy unit” is quite the career path.
Why is he in “critical condition” @AP?
Israel can abduct a doctor from a hospital in Gaza, imprison him without charge, torture him for 18 months, and it’s barely a headline.
84-year old retired priest Sue Parfitt has been repeatedly arrested for breaking counter-terror law by holding signs to protest the proscription of Palestine Action. Today, she went further than ever before, vocally expressing support for the group, and encouraging the police arresting her to join her in that support. She was arrested under section 12 of the Terrorism Act 2000, a criminal offence that carries a sentence of up to 14-years. She told Novara Media why she’ll continue to break the law.

Israel and its terr*r forces caused the avoidable death of four-month-old Palestinian baby Ahmed Ma’rouf Ahmed Zaid from the village of Deir Ammar, northwest of Ramallah, after preventing him from being transported through a checkpoint gate to a waiting ambulance.
In this video, Israeli soldiers are seen guarding the checkpoint as Ahmed’s family desperately tries to get him to the nearest hospital. The ambulance is visible on the other side of the gate, unable to reach him.
Israel established this checkpoint five months ago.
@alemannoEU “by republishing RT’s broadcasts you are providing an alternative distribution channel”
You transformed the act of sharing & discussing publicly available information into distribution. You redefine ordinary behavior as a quasi-professional one to be coherent.
Just embarrassing
I'm afraid you're completely wrong again because in this case the European Court of Justice actually went further than the European Commission itself - the institution that drafted the regulation.
The Commission's own guidance stated the ban only applied to persons exercising a "commercial or professional activity." The Court explicitly overruled this, calling the Commission's interpretation "unduly restrictive."
So when even the architects of these sanctions didn't intend for them to extend to private citizens sharing content, the Court decided they should.
That's not the Court "routinely doing its job" 🤷♂️
Just to remind ourselves, here are our initial @BylineTimes investigations into Cottrell's role in helping Farage become a true 'Man of the Paypal' er.... checks notes... 7 years ago
THIS IS VERY SERIOUS 🚨🚨🚨🚨
According to his lawyer, Nasser Odeh, Dr. Abu Safiya was struggling to breathe and speak, and during the meeting he appeared close to losing consciousness several times.
Dr. Abu Safiya has sustained serious head injuries, suffers from chronic illnesses, and is not receiving the medical care he urgently needs.
It’ll be amusing to hear people say, “Ok, Ben Gvir may be prime minister, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t some moderate people in the government who truly represent Israel. It’s not a dictatorship after all. He’s just one govt official.”
Keir Starmer's Labour government is setting a dangerous precedent.
Instead of confronting the collapse in public trust that has driven millions of people away from legacy media and towards independent journalism online, the government appears intent on using the power of the state to prop up the very institutions the public is rejecting.
Confidence in much of the traditional media has been on the decline, while independent journalism has grown because people are actively seeking alternatives they believe better hold those in power to account and cover stories the mainstream too often overlooks or deliberately buries.
And this is exactly what an authoritarian government looks like: using the power of the state to protect a discredited media establishment while making it harder for independent voices to reach the public.
💢 The death toll from Israeli attacks increased by 4 Palestinians in Gaza on Saturday, as Israel pressed its continued violations of the ceasefire, Maan reported, citing medical sources.
🔸 Hudhayfa Hussein al-Hawajri was killed and 4 others wounded in an Israeli strike on a gathering of people near the Abu Sharkh roundabout, west of the Jabalia camp in northern Gaza.
🔸 Mohammed Najib Ashour was killed and others wounded earlier in a drone strike on a group of people on al-Muraja Street, near the Asqoula junction, southeast of Gaza City.
🔸 The bodies of two men missing since Thursday were recovered from Beit Lahiya in the north: Bilal Hussein Khamis Abu Rabih, 46, a strawberry farmer, and Hamza Imad Jihad Hamdouna, 20. A third man remains missing.
Israel has continued near-daily attacks in Gaza despite the ceasefire that took effect in October, with more than 1,050 Palestinians killed since the truce began.
