@saniyusuf@eldivine The Tories were in power for 15 years. Thy put you guys in this mess. They will not be the ones to bring you out of this. Also, there’s no way the Labour Party has moved left. They have moved centre right if you ask me
The American elite has hollowed out their industrial base for profit. It will take decades to rebuild and I’m not even sure they’ll be able to.
You can have the best weapons, but it’s not good for anything if you cannot ramp up production in times of conflict.
Do not listen to any self righteous western journalist or politician talk about human rights in any non-western state. They have no moral ground to stand on.
The one obituary of Ayatollah Khamenei you should read.
No whitewashing. No excuses.
Unlike some of the legacy media who cannot help but indulge in reflexive sanitization of dictators who positioned themselves as anti-Western "resistance figures."
The glow-ups by the FT, NYT and WaPo are brazen:
> FT called him an avant-garde cleric
> WaPo highlighted his "easy smile," love of Persian poetry, and personal "aura"
> NYT elevated him as a transformative leader
This approach is wrong on its merits because it fails basic moral accounting. Khamenei's legacy, per the unvarnished record, is nothing short of evil.
By contrast, this obituary written by @jreidnewton, rightly centers on the human cost. She writes how Ayatollah Khamenei will be "remembered by unmarked graves, economic devastation, prison cells, public executions, and a generation that went unheard."

I went to my sister’s school to pay her school fees. I had to wait because the secretary was busy with someone else. While waiting, I heard a man talking loudly in the principal’s office. He was on a call asking his wife to come meet him at the school. From what I overheard, the wife had been collecting 4× the school fees from him. Mind you, this man has been having financial difficulties, which is why he came to ask the principal for time to gather the money.
When the woman arrived, he asked her how much she had been collecting from him. She told him, and the next thing I heard was a slap.
@MazeDaMouth Don’t get me wrong, he might be able to change things and significantly improve people’s lives in NY. I’m just not holding my breath. Obama had a lot of hope placed in him and look how that turned out
A lot of assets are not worth the value we see in the market today. You are having multiple mortgages based on inflated values. The music will stop one day and you will be left with asset worth less than the amount you are owing on them. Be careful
I need people who talk like this to really understand leverage before giving this type of advice to others. There are advantages and disadvantages to all investment opportunities and people do not talk about the disadvantage of this strategy when they give the advice.
I had a chat with my Pakistani driving instructor a few years ago that changed my life. As a Nigerian, we don’t like hearing someone is owing debt lol. So all my life, I’ve learned to pay up immediately. After I bought my house, I was overpaying, paying extra 10% every year because I wanted to pay off the mortgage within 7 years.
I had a chat with my Pakistani friend and he told me, if you have a house of say £400k that’s fully paid, it means you have £400k stuck in one place doing nothing for you.
But with a sustainable mortgage, you can invest £300k out of those £400k into 4 other properties and that makes you a multiple landlord and you have people living in those houses and paying the mortgage for you while you grow wealth.
That conversation changed my life and was the main reason I diversified into real estate.
Knowledge they say is power!!
