The University of Nairobi today hosted the official signing ceremony of the Architectural Design Contract for the Engineering and Science Complex (ESC).
The event was held at the University and witnessed by the University Chancellor, the French Ambassador to Kenya, the AFD Director, the Vice-Chancellor, and members of the University’s top management.
The contract was awarded to Design Scope Systems following a competitive and transparent procurement process that included an architectural design competition, technical evaluation, and structured negotiations in accordance with applicable professional and procurement standards.
I used to think this, but then I asked the follow up question which is “have I given anyone a reason to care about me”? And when I didn’t like the answer to that question I started to change things
Once you go bitter, you start losing on purpose and telling yourself its destiny. you stop showing up to the things that challenge you, because if you won, you would have to admit the world was not against you this whole time. and that is unacceptable to a bitter man, because bitterness needs proof. it feeds on evidence, so you give it some. you quit the job before it works out. you leave the woman before she gets too close. you stop replying to the friend who actually gave a shit. and then each loss goes back into the mouth of the beast, and it chews, and it says yes, good, more. you become a man feeding a parasite his own future, because the future might be beautiful, and beauty would kill the story he has been telling himself
& when the moment comes to choose differently, it will ask something of you:
the courage to move instead of freeze
& the willingness to let the cycle end with you
The older I get, the more I believe in the theory that if a city attracts you, it’s because someone or something is waiting for you there and your story has already been written
I learned that you can change any situation you’re in but first, you have to get tired of it, deeply. Tired to the point where you can’t rest without thinking of a solution. And eventually, that solution comes.
I also learned the art of discipline. It’s okay to pause certain parts of your life so you can focus on what matters most in the moment. Nothing is out of reach when you focus!!
