This week, renown saxophonist @IsaiahKatumwa registered the Copyright in his music albums with @URSBHQ. A certificate not only provides proof of legal ownership of the music we love, but also opens business opportunities to commercialize and enforce one’s rights.
Yesterday, our CEO @denismudene and Senior Management team, hosted officials from @URSBHQ who visited to gain a deeper understanding of how the Board’s National Central Electronic Monitoring System(NCEMS) operates and supports effective regulation.
The delegation, led by @m_nabatanzi, Commissioner for Copyright & Neighbouring Rights, engaged with our team on our Electronic Licensing system and other systems used to regulate the gaming industry. They appreciated the knowledge shared and noted that these insights will be instrumental in enhancing automation within URSB, particularly in strengthening Copyright Registration and related processes.
@BugandaKingdom_ It’s also important to seek authorization to translate a movie, from the copyright holders of the films. 4 things matter in copyright:-consent from the owner; give credit the author; compensation, and control where the owner determines how their work is used.

@URSBHQ@UCC_Official@GovUganda@GCICUganda@UgandaFilm@UgUFMI@UgFilmCouncil@MoICT_Ug As the film industry continues to thrive, so is the need to strengthen the copyright in the different audio visual works, through registration. With a certificate, you need not prove to others that you are not the owner. It is others that must prove to the world that you are not.
In her opening remarks, Ms. Nabatanzi Miriam, the Commissioner of Copyright and Neighboring Rights representing the Registrar General's office, emphasized the urgent need to improve Uganda's global innovation ranking, which currently stands at a disappointing 121st out of 133 economies. To support this initiative, she outlined the @URSBHQ commitment to modernizing intellectual property systems, enhancing capacity, fostering collaborative partnerships, and advocating for supportive policies. She called on stakeholders to improve collaboration on intellectual property data and make concrete commitments, emphasizing the need for a united effort to elevate Uganda from the margins to the forefront of global innovation.
