@CarRelianceBC @SurreyMayor@Eric_Doherty There are some bike trails and closer to the city core there are some separate bike lanes. Most of which throw you into traffic. In other cases they designate a 60kmh road with no shoulder a main bike path.
got a little spicy in @macleans about the limits of the settler imagination when it comes to reconciliation & Indigenous sovereignty https://t.co/QLuBFES3O7
@RichmondRCMP Nice, let's blame victims of vehicular manslaughter for the inattentiveness of drivers. Only drivers have the ability to kill someone, it is their responsibility to look out for pedestrians
@bikelaneuprise I bring my bike into almost every store if I can't see it from the front window, it's no larger than a cart and I'm conscious of not blocking others. Only had one security guard get upset but just walked away and they seemed to just accept it.
@YIMBYLAND Own one car, but hoping to replace it with a motorcycle. I bus and ride a bicycle as much as feasible, and when I do drive I try to combine multiple trips (driving and staying a night instead of driving both days)
HUGE NEWS for housing affordability in British Columbia! New changes to "allow three to four units on a traditional single-family detached lot and even higher density permitted in areas close to transit hubs." #yyj#bcpoli#cdnpoli#HousingCrisis https://t.co/QsLibR2vFH
To ensure residential streets are safe, Japan takes a different approach than most countries. Instead of segregating modes by their speed (car lane, bike lane, sidewalk), Japan simply makes residential streets very narrow so that cars never feel comfortable going fast.
Purely from an emissions perspective, EVs produce 5 times more emissions per capita than e-bikes. Subsidizing EVs over e-bikes isn't in line with Biden's purported goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.
Even recent IPCC reports recommend moving away from car-dependency.
Just had the best Christmas shopping experience. Walking by a shop, went in on a whim. The store co-owner was warm, chatty and knew her products inside-out. Felt like I was in a movie scene. The pleasures of shopping small, local and in-person.
@willmcgugan I saw someone use zero-width characters interspersed with the handle, not sure if that was legit or not, they used it with no repercussions though.
Ever so accurate.

If walking costs you $1, we all pay $0.01. If biking costs you $1, we all pay $0.08. If bussing costs you $1, we all pay $1.50. If driving costs you $1, we all pay $9.20. Via @thediscourse study.
This isn’t just about choice. It’s about who pays for your choice.
