@mlfran20 of encouraging and using those particular students for demonstrations to get them involved. We also use a lot of positive specific feedback which helps because they like hearing that they did well on something. It is sometimes challenging for sure!
@mlfran20 Being in schools now, there really aren't a whole lot of students that don't participate. A lot of students do for the most part, but I do understand that some students have their days. It's usually the same couple of students every day that don't want to participate. We do a lot
@ThomasScottJack I like that you are having the students examine the influences in their life and expressing that through art in meaningful ways! Art would be a great class for students to start thinking more critically about what they are viewing or what they want to create.
@DylanRusinski I think it's awesome that you are striving to guide your students to their passion. Every student has different interests. It's important as teachers to support our students and encourage them to do things that set them apart!
@ThomasScottJack I think so too! I also want to try to give them options. Rather than me just throwing a new unit out every single time, I would let them choose on occasion. I think giving them options really helps to keep them engaged!
#TCH219Sum19Wk6 Q1. To get my students to think more critically about the material I am presenting, I plan to use resources and materials that my students find interest in. I plan to receive their feedback to get an idea of what their interests are and then plan around it.
#TCH219Sum19Wk6 Q4. Since I am very passionate about physical education, I really strive to build relationships with my students so that I can get their attention on the importance of this class.
I strive to make a change in the false perception of physical education being a “blow off” class. I want to make it a class that has a lot of purpose to my students. My purpose is to be their support, encouragement, and motivator along with being their mentor.
When recreating the curriculum, we need to address academic language and provide our students with diverse materials to learn from. We also need to adapt to our students needs and try to incorporate some of their interests into the content.
#TCH219Sum19Wk6 Q3. I do think that we are at a place where school curriculums should be re-imagined. In my opinion, I think there can always be room for improvement. Since everything is always changing it’s important to switch things up.
Not only for our own good, but as well as for the students. I think we should focus on being creative in the ways we teach. For example, using a variety of strategies and instructional approaches.
