Here is the Hadith that forbids the fake wedding trends and any similar act

For the Muslim brethren, the prophet (peace be upon him) as narrated by Abu hurayrah said three matters are regarded significant when taken serious and still significant when not taken as such. They are MARRIAGE, DIVORCE and RETURNING A WOMAN (after divorce).

While it’s understandable that certain things are just for media attention, I firmly believe there should be some limitations. The current “fake wedding” trends between and among students in some parts of the country falls into the red zone category in my humble opinion
