“There’s going to be a lot of little kids picking up a basketball tomorrow—trying to be the next Landon Lee or Brooke Hinson.”
Marshfield Head Coach Chris Fischer says the mark these two left on the program won’t be forgotten and they’ve inspired the next generation of Marshfield Basketball players. 🏀 #wiaabb @MarshfieldTiger

I remember you telling me all the goals, dreams you had at the age of 14 and it is so freaking cool to see you accomplish everything you set your mind to. I will forever say you have a Jordan mentality-- no one's stopping you from getting what you've earned ♡ @karsyn_bauman2
Last night was truly the most special night. I am so blessed to be surrounded by so many amazing people, so thankful to everyone who has played any sort of role in my journey so far, and so grateful to have turned my goal of hitting 1000 points into a reality 🤍
@Trevornoah is going to change lives with this new podcast series.
It has the laughter, lessons and life advice I think every single person can take something away from and he's only 2 episodes in.

@j_derekb@coachmurphyvahs We also don't tell our kids to drop those friends. I don't think those words have EVER been said in my gym. I might tell you to think about who they're around. But nope, I'll never tell a kid to kick a friend to the curb. Because what if my athlete is the friend that kid needs?
@j_derekb@coachmurphyvahs No-- we can't expect them to have the judgement! That's why we're here, because if we can help them work through those obstacles NOW, they're going to make better choices once they're older. We are not all dealt the same cards, sadly.
@coachmurphyvahs@j_derekb Lol, I love your posts lady-- a coach after my own heart. We are so far from perfect and we have made our fair share of mistakes as people. I always tell my kids "I don't care how many times you mess up, it's how you react to it that matters. How you bounce back."
@j_derekb@coachmurphyvahs Absolutely. Why would I dislike my friends for a mistake THEY made, but I didn't? My friends weren't mad at me for not going. Nah, I supported them as they supported me. This is where as an athlete, you learn nothing is personal. We're all making choices for ourselves.
@coachmurphyvahs@j_derekb 100%. you don't have to disown those friends or be angry with them. Just learn to separate yourself when those situations arise. I had friends who were entirely respectful of my boundaries. Hell, I had friends who would warn me not to come. Accountability.
@coachmurphyvahs@j_derekb Aren't going to make that right decision for you. You have to make it on your own. You're going to make mistakes, and it's also important to learn from the mistakes of those around you and that have come before you as well.
@coachmurphyvahs@j_derekb Perfectly stated. We use the term "friends" very sparingly in our program because you have to realize that not everyone is your friend and has your best interest at heart. Your friends don't have the same consequences as you because you because they aren't in your shoes. So they
@j_derekb@coachmurphyvahs Coaching is a 24/7 job. You are a coach, a therapist, an advisor, and sometimes you're the parent for kids who don't have families. It's our job to make sure these kids stay on track and are prepared for what life throws at them. And I'd rather them learn this hard lesson at 14
@j_derekb@coachmurphyvahs You're missing the part where we as coaches are there for our kids to help them through this stuff. We're actively involved in their lives. I have monthly meetings with my kids. I show up to school and make sure they're in class. My job is to teach life not basketball.
