I can’t wait until an investigative report is published a year from now showing that these mass layoffs are a result of offshoring rather than just “AI”.
AI is so popular because it gives uncreative people the illusion that they are creative. It lets them skip right to the part where they get validation. It’s not only parasitic, but extremely narcissistic.
When you realize that not many years ago the WNBA wanted to control players visual identities to cater to a certain demographic and now players get to promote themselves the way they want and are more successful than with the league’s interference >>>>>>>
I heard an interview today about AI in creative spaces and the man being interviewed said “AI is data, and Data can only look backwards. Creativity looks forwards.” And I need to sit with that in the best possible way.
Not every varsity team needs a content machine behind it. Some teams need a schedule post, a score post, awards when they happen, and maybe a recap template.
If the sport is not driving revenue, donors, sponsors, recruiting leverage, or meaningful audience, premium creative support is not going to be required in the very near future.
We are speeding to the pay-for-play model and the pay-to-play model.
If we were talking Video, I think that’s probably a little bit further off but man, the graphics are basically there now you don’t need more than one person to run graphics for a big athletic department if they’re using AI properly. Now properly might be the operant term here, but there are much bigger companies than a Power Five athletic department who put out much more graphics who are running full or almost full agentic at this point.
This is where my AI line is basically drawn. Everyone and their mothers know FSU has designers. The post before this is a graphic made by a designer. This is pretty much as embarrassing as you can get for a program this size. DIII schools aren’t even doing this.
At the end of the day, you’d still need a creative to make the work with AI. You can’t just fire an entire creative team and have some random person go to Chat GPT and say “Make this”.
Women's soccer fans are protective of the space.
And no wonder.
The game didn't grow because big companies threw money at it.
It grew because:
- Fans showed up when stadiums were empty.
- People fought for equal pay and better coverage.
- Players shared their own stories instead of waiting for brands to tell them.
Fans built this. So they protect it.
They want growth but not at the expense of what makes it special.
When brands show up, fans are asking:
Were you here before? Do you actually care? Let’s see what you’ve got.
If you're genuinely invested, they'll welcome you.
If you're here for marketing points, they'll see straight through it.
You have to earn your place.
And if you’re truly committed and ready to invest, that puts you in a position of incredible strength.
I miss the world before AI more than I miss the world before the pandemic. I hate what it’s doing to publishing, job markets, schooling, and the internet. It’s made people question every piece of content they see. I’m tired of reading about it, seeing it, or thinking about it.
I cannot even begin to explain how having a financially stable background will do wonders for your career as an adult. You can pivot careers , quit a toxic job , try out other ventures. The opportunities are so expanded.
