The monthly subscriptions are not going through. Just limit Temu/Shein or whatever and enable us to make our monthly subscriptions.
I just cant imagine what the whole country is going through with these absurd limitations. This is so backwards @bankofmaldives 😡

As a finance provider @bankofmaldives should publicize information that could affect their customers financially. Blocking websites without notice means loss of business and loss in income. This could lead to unfair treatment between customers, misrepresentations and ultimately breach of contract.
Banks need to be clear about service limitations and disclose restrictions that affects how customers can use their accounts. This includes proactively publicizing and keeping databases on which websites and services are inaccessible via the current service contracts.
The only situation in which non disclosure is preferred would seem to arise in cases of high national security.
On the contrary our national bank prefers to keep these lists private in so far as to verify national identity to check whether one of the websites is blocked. Answers received in 2-3 business days. A list of websites never provided. Our regulatory authorities always hibernating on this highly unethical business practice.
My take on Oct 3 protests:
1. Turnout was bigger than expected, I guess the organizers weren’t ready for this crowd.
2. Lack of coordination was obvious.
3. Compared to past mass protests in Maldives, arrests were fewer & things remained relatively less chaotic despite the numbers.
4. The large turnout will boost morale & encourage more to join.
5. So, unless govt addresses real public anger with policy changes, protests may continue.
6. History check: During MDP rule, PPM launched Silsilaa (continuous) Protests. Similar cycle could start now.
7. Back then, PPM’s Silsilaa Protests began in the 4th year of MDP rule. If this Gov faces that kind of unrest this early, it will be damaging, not only politically but also for the already fragile economy since instability always hurts economic confidence and activity.
8. Taking all this into account, I think the Gov needs to look deeper. Instead of dismissing the protests as simply an attempt to “bring the Gov down” it should ask why ordinary citizens ( not politicians ) felt compelled to show up or support the cause. Understanding and addressing those reasons would be the smarter move.
From my perspective, some of the issues that need serious attention include:
- The billions owed to SOEs,
- Discontent over how Flats & Goathi issue,
- Local businesses feeling the Gov is directly competing with (and undermining) the private sector,
- Ongoing USD shortages hurting SMEs,
- Journalists and young people frustrated by the media control bill,
- And above all, corruption allegations and the overall weak state of the economy.
Male’ Map version 2.0 for iOS is out after 10+ years! And now you can finally install it on newer devices.
Why did it take so long? I just didn’t have time and had other priorities. But thanks to AI I can now do things in less time.
Something that took me a couple of weeks to build back in 2014 I was able to rebuild in 4 hours thanks to Claude Code
So tell your friends, tell your family.
I hope it is as helpful as it was back then when it was first released
