She welcomed another child into their family, but joy turned to sorrow when her tribe refused to accept the child. This forced them to leave everything behind once again. In 2019, she found refuge in Kakuma, Kenya, now working as a tailor.

Heavy rains have caused flooding & damage to shelters, affecting both refugees & host communities.

UNHCR is working with partners to assist those residing in flood prone areas, and we continue to coordinate preparedness activities.

Upon arrival at the Kakuma Refugee Camp, refugees are given a 4x5 meter sheet of plastic. Given permanent structures aren't allowed, they have to use this sheet with mud and sticks to build the rest of their new home. With the world's help, we can change these circumstances!
