@McCormickProf Is that so? At the time of the founding, 1/8 of the humans in the newly formed US were property, essentially livestock. If you consider *where* your idea comes from, you can see the problem.
@PAHoyeck It is easy to explain. Red button pushers operate out of self interest.
Blue button pushers assume some people will push the blue button. The only way to save them is for most everyone to push the blue button, so they do. It is a species trait, chimps don't operate that way.
@WhiteSalad10@NeilShenvi I think the story is pretty clear. The camel thing refers to the impossibility that the rich would give up their riches. But through God's grace it *can* (and does) happen. Lives of the Saints is full of examples of this.
@avidseries What conservatism calls for depends in where you start. Conservatives supported Jim Crow, opposed women's suffrage, upheld slavery, opposed the Enlightenment, upheld divine right of kings.
@MattWalshBlog Republicans including the Paleo kind have always fallen in line. The big problem is this tendency has spread to the other party and now there is never a course change because we all have to fall in line with the Blob.
@MattWalshBlog MAGA are updated Paleoconservatives who have been antiwar since the days of Robert A. Taft, and the original America Firsters before him. They did not stop Eisenhower and Reagan's military buildup. Then we have the Defense Dept return to its original, true name as the War Dept.
@MattWalshBlog Wait a minute. Remember the axis of evil? Netanayu's bomb diagram presented to Republicans? Combine this with Trump's close relationship with Netanayu and his ending of the Iran nuke deal. A showdown was in the offing.
That America is in a crisis seems apparent today. Unlike his Democratic counterparts, President Trump is making a bid to resolve the crisis on terms favorable to him and his party.

@SwannMarcus89 There has been no regime change. When Chavez was replaced with next-in-line Maduro, was that regime change? Why should going to next-in-line Rodriguez be any different?
@ArtemisConsort Socially constructed means culturally evolved through social learning. In cultural evolution some constructs are more adapted to the environment (i.e. accord with reality) than others. Though social constructs can be anything, the ones that last have correspondence with reality.
@Code_of_Kai@Mathonymics This guy should takes a roundabout part to make a simple point. That Earth is not typical is indicated by the discovery of thousands of exoplanets in a great many solar systems. None of the planets are remotely similar to Earth and very view of the systems resemble ours.
@kmele Actually, lots of people do try to explain well established differences in average IQ between racially-coded group using genetics. My own view is such differences reflect 3 factors, the first 2 of which are heritable: genes, culture, environment.
@robkhenderson The dude did not use the obvious example. Sub-Saharan (black) people have very little or no Neanderthal DNA. Eurasian (white) people do have Neanderthal DNA. That's a clear-cut genetic difference.
@AndrewHastie Animal Farm a critique of genocide? I read it 50y ago, but that's not what I got. I saw it as an allegory of the Soviet Union with the message: meet the new boss, same as the old boss, with the pigs becoming the identical to the old regime who had enslaved them.
