I was pleased to participate in the BRICS Agriculture Ministerial Dialogue in Indore, India, where Ministers and senior officials came together to chart practical pathways for strengthening food systems and securing the future of food.

The discussions reinforced my conviction that the future of agriculture lies in empowering the smallholder farmer, the enterprising woman and the innovative young person. In Nigeria, under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, we are placing food security at the heart of national development and pursuing policies that create opportunities across the agricultural value chain.

I shared Nigeria’s experience and our growing partnerships in mechanisation, climate-smart agriculture, digital innovation and post-harvest infrastructure. I was particularly encouraged by the shared commitment among BRICS members and partner countries to deepen South-South cooperation and accelerate agricultural transformation.

As a BRICS Partner Country, Nigeria remains committed to building resilient and inclusive food systems. I look forward to stronger collaborations that will improve productivity, enhance livelihoods and ensure a more prosperous future for our farmers, women and youth.

Everything begins and ends with the farmer. By empowering them, we secure the future of food.
