@AinnieAS Interestingly, while it was built to prevent the return of the exiled Mughal Emperor Humayun, the fort was ironically surrendered without a fight. When Humayun marched back to reclaim his empire, the Suri governor fled, allowing the Mughals to walk in and claim it effortlessly.
@nadeemhaque As always, city has grown and places which were outside are now considered inside. Mozang used to be outside of Lahore, same was the case for Model town, old airport, cantonment.
@nadeemhaque In 1886 British Army Surgeon Major Perry, with his own money, purchased 62 acres land which is where present polo club’s 3 grounds, its club house and 300 stables stand. He bound the future members to confine the use of this asset to only promote the cause of polo.
@AmerSharifOFCL Any law that targets real estate would be changed in favour of realtors.
Any law targeting corporate and salaried class would be decided against them. (copied)
@AmerSharifOFCL Brought down my monthly petrol quantity by around 12%, though I get fuel card in liters. We collectively need to make an effort to reduce import bill.
Blocking the strait of Hormuz is unfair,
But blocking the Rafah crossing for years, preventing the entry of food and humanitarian aid for poor people of Gaza was totally fair.
Let that sink in.
@AmerSharifOFCL The brutal salary taxation incentivize tax evasion and to remain outside the tax net. Like why would anyone want to become a filer and open the door to innumerous tax notices, audits and for what? Buy new cars for FBR, judges. Planes. In Sindh, tax is charged on school fees.
@IMFNews You have always been blind and silent on these things.
But when it comes to giving any relief to the salaried class, you suddenly become the biggest hurdle. You are an equal partner in the crime of financially destroying Pakistan’s poor salaried class. Sadly, we may witness this again in June(in budget), as usual.
@AmerSharifOFCL@FBRSpokesperson An idea for FBR: since many professionals have left the country due to brutal salary tax, however, they still need to contribute. FBR should change the 'resident' definition and anyone who has been issued a CNIC, NICOP, POC etc. have to pay tax in Pakistan too
@najam_ali You reminded me of Col. Jessup mindset (A Few Good Men).
"I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom that I provide and then questions the manner in which I provide it."
FBR performance summed up:
Less than 5% of our total income tax comes from the efforts of the officers who were just given 1,000+ Honda City cars. Their real duty is to catch tax evaders and expand the tax net — not to keep pressuring the same compliant taxpayers again and again. Instead of sitting back and depending on withholding taxes/auto collection as if they’re magic, we need real enforcement and real results.
