Pakistan’s salaried class paid Rs91 billion in income tax during July-August 2026, significantly exceeding the combined Rs40 billion collected from the real estate, wholesale and retail sectors.

Salaried taxpayers paid 225% more tax than the real estate sector, while their contribution was 658% higher than that of wholesalers and retailers. Salaried tax collections also increased by 7.5% year-on-year, while real estate tax fell 29% to Rs28 billion.

The figures highlight the major contribution of salaried individuals to government revenues as the Federal Board of Revenue continues to face pressure to meet its collection targets.
