Today we listened to the ‘Tale of the Three Brothers’ a short story from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. The children created their own shadow puppet theatre and retold the spooky tale #WorldBookDay 📖
Yesterday Y6 time-travelled back to the year 1893 to learn what it was like to be a Victorian school child. They completed drills and played games on the playground, learned calligraphy and worked with Victorian money.
Today we had a visit from a mechanical engineer. He came to help Y6 with their DT project - to design and make a cup sleeve that will keep a drink hot even in Arctic temperatures! Based on his recommendations they chose an insulating material to go inside. #STEMeducation
Today Y6 started their Polar Explorer STEM project. They used online sources to research how animals are adapted to their environment and used data loggers to compare the temperature in different locations around school. 🐧❄️
Year Six and Year 4 came together to share their last piece of writing with each other. Y6 enjoyed reading their sci-fi stories aloud to an audience! 📖

Over the last couple of art lessons, we have been improving our painting technique. We have enjoyed creating tonal ladders and painting to emotive music. We can’t wait for you to see our final watercolour paintings of the Northern Lights ✨
Yesterday, Y6 asked “What is science fiction?”. To start our new writing topic, the children looked at a range of literary genres. They completed a sorting activity; reading extracts and using clues on the book covers to deduce the genre. 📚
