One of the strangest cases I saw recently.
A young woman in her early 20s came with severe lower back pain after hitting a speed breaker while riding a bike with her husband/boyfriend.
Her abdomen strongly suggested pregnancy, so we asked if she was pregnant. She denied it.
We asked again, explaining that many medicines cannot be given during pregnancy. She still denied it.
When we suggested an examination, both of them insisted: "Just treat the pain. Nothing else. Otherwise we're leaving."
Meanwhile, the pain was increasing and had a very classical pattern.
Something didn't feel right, so we called the OB-GYN team. After a lot of convincing, they finally agreed to an examination.
She wasn't having back pain from a speed breaker.
She was actually in labour.
Emergency transfer to the labour room. Thankfully both mother and baby are safe.
But I still don't understand one thing Why do people lie to the doctor?
Please don't lie to your doctors. You're not protecting yourself. You're putting your own life and sometimes someone else's at risk.
