My key to avoiding burnout:
Realizing 100% looks different each day.
One of the most difficult challenges for any ambitious person is eliminating the guilt associated with free time and rest.
I used to push at max effort every single day, thinking that free time and rest were bad.
To me, 100% was an absolute.
I’d go full out, always, and inevitably burnout and knock myself out of the game.
But then I learned an important lesson:
100% is relative.
The goal is to give 100% of what you have available to give on a given day—this means 100% looks different each day.
When you feel incredible, give it your all.
When you feel less than incredible, give it your all, within the context of how you feel on that day.
The goal is to stay in the game to allow compounding to work its magic.
Lesson: 100% is relative, not absolute.
