Fola Adeola explains how GT Bank are customer focused
One day he got to the office and he found 8 parking spaces.
The MD and Deputy MD have occupied two spaces
Then he called a meeting & decided that they should move their cars so customers can occupy the entire eight spaces.
Last Thursday night I ran out of fuel on Third Mainland Bridge, 11pm, Phone at 2%, No power bank… I want to tell you what happened next.
I pushed the hazard lights on and sat in the car trying to think, Cars were flying past me, Nobody slowed down… Not one person…
3 CV mistakes costing Nigerians interviews:
1.Using one CV for every application.
2. Writing responsibilities instead of achievements.
3. Including irrelevant information.
Which one are you guilty of?
#careertips
❌ “Responsible for customer service”
✅ “Resolved over 200 customer inquiries monthly while maintaining a 95% satisfaction rating.”
One sounds like a duty.
The other sounds like an achievement.
Your CV should sell results, not responsibilities.

In 2024, when Heritage Bank’s license was revoked by the CBN, people with millions in deposits lost access to their money. Till today, many of them have still not recovered it.
A colleague who joined us at Sterling Bank from Heritage shared what happened to him and how he lost the trust and relationship of a major HNI customer.
As usual, he approached the customer for a deposit. The customer was reluctant at first, but eventually agreed and released ₦200 million to him for one month.
Immediately the funds were lodged, Heritage Bank’s license was revoked barely a week later.
He said that till today, the customer has only received ₦1 million from NDIC out of the ₦200 million in deposit.
Even people with as little as ₦200,000 in their accounts went through serious stress before they could recover their money.
One day NDIC would ask them to come and fill a form and go home. Another day, they would be asked to return and fill another form again.
That process went on for months before some people were eventually credited a part of their deposit.
CBN should never allow a situation like this to happen again.
They say only a thief comes in the night.
But Access Bank also cometh. The bank was fined N1.8 billion by the CBN, recorded nearly 6,000 fraud cases, and paid shareholders zero dividend in 2025, all while posting record profits.
Here is what the financial statements actually say.
I really love the viral moment that stocks have been having over the last couple of days. Let me dig into the numbers.
According to statistics, about 60 millionNigerians between the ages of 18 and 40 are involved in active sports betting. Proshare.
Whereas, the Nigeria Stock Market has only 600,000 active accounts.
Financial literacy needs to go mainstream. We need to make investing cool. It’s not going to happen overnight, it will require intentional educational and adoption.
