After six months of intense negotiations, 193 UN Member States have unanimously agreed to establish two transformative institutions:
๐น An Independent Scientific Panel on AI โ to provide evidence-based assessments, synthesizing research on AIโs opportunities, risks, and impacts.
๐น A Global Dialogue on AI Governance โ to serve as a platform for stakeholders to strengthen international cooperation and trust in this critical space.
These two institutions are designed to be mutually reinforcing: science guiding dialogue, and dialogue amplifying evidence into global cooperation. Their establishment by consensus underscores the urgency of building trustworthy, inclusive, and sustainable AI governance โ even amid difficult geopolitical currents and funding realities.
๐ Congratulations to the UN High-Level Advisory Body on AI for evolving these two initiatives, and deep gratitude to our Mission in New York โ especially Tony Oweke โ for his outstanding leadership in steering negotiations.
๐ฐ๐ช Kenya had the privilege of representing the Group of 77 and China (134 developing countries), with a mandate to:
โข Provide the initial institutional designs for both mechanisms,
โข Build consensus within the G77, and
โข Negotiate our position with the wider UN membership.
This milestone represents not just institutional innovation, but also the shared belief that AI governance must be grounded in science, cooperation, and solidarity.

At the beginning of the CHAN tournament, no one gave our Harambee Stars a chance of going past the group stages. After all, we were in the so-called โGroup of Death.โ Yet, our boys have triumphed.
By overcoming football giants of the continent, our boys have shown the world what it truly means to believe in ourselves. They have proven that Kenya is an ambitious nation, destined for greatness, if only we embrace faith, courage, focus, and hard work.
Congratulations, Harambee Stars! You have done the nation proud, inspired immense joy, and united our country in celebration. Now, march forward and conquer the continent. Do not settle for less โ just as we, as a nation, must never settle for anything less than glory.
As for me โ nitacheza kama mimi. After all, dawa ya deni ni kulipa.
On this auspicious Sunday, the 16th of March 2025, my esteemed sister, Grace, and I had the distinct privilege of engaging in a profound and intellectually stimulating discourse with the sagacious Steve Machage.
I had the privilege of joining H.E. President William Ruto in hosting Ghana's President-elect, @JDMahama. We expressed our appreciation for his visit and used the opportunity to update him of my campaigns and vision for the African Union Commission Chairperson.
