So when a task requires working on a website, Claude can open the browser, navigate through the site, fill out forms, and actually complete the task — instead of just telling you what to click.

That shift is important.

Meta's own engineering team published this on August 12, 2026. It is called Scam Alert, an optional feature currently in limited beta.

Here is exactly how it works. An AI model runs on your own device. It checks messages from people who are not your saved contacts. If the message matches patterns seen in known scams, it warns you right inside the chat.

Meta's own words. "No message content leaves the device for classification or is auto reported to WhatsApp, Meta, or anyone else."

This is the plain English version of what "on device AI" actually means. The checking happens inside your phone. Not on a server somewhere reading your business chats.
If you sell through WhatsApp, and most of us do, that mix of protection and privacy is worth understanding before it reaches you.

It has not fully rolled out yet, so do not assume it is live on your phone today. But it is coming.

🚨 In 6 days, Abuja and Lagos host the biggest tech gathering in Africa. GITEX Nigeria 2026 runs August 31 to September 3.

You do not have to attend to benefit from it.

🚨 The World Bank just said something most AI job fear posts get backwards.

Every "AI will take your job" headline is usually written from a New York or London office.

The World Bank just published its World Development Report 2026, "The Promise of Artificial Intelligence." It found jobs in high income countries are more than three times as likely to face automation risk as jobs in low and middle income countries. The actual numbers: 14.2% versus 4.5%.

The same report found 16.2% of jobs in developing economies could see meaningful productivity gains from AI. It surveyed 777 enterprises right here in Nigeria to reach that number.

Here is the line that stuck with me. "AI could help extend otherwise costly medical, legal, educational, and agricultural services to the underserved billions, doing in a decade what might otherwise take a century."

The risk is smaller here. The upside is bigger. But only if we actually pick up the tool instead of watching from the sidelines.

The report is honest that this is not automatic. It warns that without deliberate action, AI could still widen the gap instead of closing it.

A separate CBN survey found that 87.5 percent of Nigerian fintechs already use AI specifically for fraud detection.

Reported by TechCrunch on July 30, LinkedIn rolled out a feature informally called "seems like AI slop," letting users flag posts that look like generic, low value AI generated content. LinkedIn has framed it as targeting spam, not AI assisted writing itself.

If you use AI to help write your posts, and I do, here are the 3 edits I make before anything goes live:

→ Add one specific real detail AI would not invent on its own. A number, a name, a place.
→ Add one honest opinion or reaction only I would say, not the safe neutral language AI defaults to.
→ Rewrite the opening line myself. AI's generic openers are usually the first thing that reads as slop.

The fix is not to stop using AI. It is to stop publishing the first draft.
