Okay here we go....this will be my very last post regarding anything Prime 4/Retro Studios related as I am over the drama that comes associated with it, but I am a man of my word, I said I would give an update, so here we go.

This is going to be a very long read, because I have a lot I need to say and I have to try and be as clear as possible.

Metroid Prime 4 (Retros version) was for a period of time intended to be a cross-gen launch title just like BOTW however it was going to be a launch window title for Switch 2 (not launch day) but obviously that didn't happen. Your first clue is the MP4 OUT NOW mural at London Train Station, the second clue is the MPT Trilogy artbook being delayed.

After playing through DK Bananza and seeing how unpolished it is by Nintendo standards(Still really polished but just not the high, high bar Nintendo usually has.) I personally think DK Bananza and MP4 switched places and DK Bananza was moved up from Q4 to compensate for MP4 being pushed back(this is me speculating! Not fact!) anyways I digress.....

So what is going on? Well I have to be careful here because if I get into specifics its going to open a can of worms. Some gamers arent the most rational people at the best of times so god knows what they will do about a game 18 years in the making, I don't need the verbal outcry on my conscience. Basically Metroid Prime 4 hit a snag. Now I am going to refer to this snag as an "Anomaly" so this anomaly isnt that big of a deal usually, all of Retro's previous games dating back to Prime 1 have run into issues with this anomaly, but the anomaly was slightly different each time, however the anomaly this time is a lot more severe than in previous games and its compounded by a second anomaly that seeped into the first anomaly, as of the timing of this post I am unsure if these anomalies have been resolved.

Now for the important part, what does this mean? Well because of how non transparent the video game industry is, gamers assume the worst cause they dont know how game development works, as the only stuff that ever seems to come out about the industry is the trinity of layoffs, crunch and bad management. That isnt what this is. Its more so Retro are working through a problem and trying to resolve it, (the nature of game development at times, once again not a biggie.)

Why is the marketing weird? The marketing for this game has been weird because of the anomalies(partly) but its also because of whats happened with its development, they have basically been trying to provide nuggets of info to fans to say "hey don't worry its coming". Now because of the backlash to Federation Force, Nintendo went against their usual philosophy of waiting till a game is nearly done to do marketing and announced Prime 4 early to show fans that they still care about the franchise, obviously because the first version got cancelled and they had to restart it and that pushed the game waaaay further back than they ever intended. So this weird marketing campaign is because

1. They announced the game way too early and tried to compensate for this and the first cancelled version of Prime 4 by providing small nuggets of info

2. Because the game isn't finished (I must stress, its extremely close to being done) they don't want to show too much of it and then it gets delayed AGAIN! (Look out for a Germany rating for MP4 that's when you know it's done as they test the game to 100% completion, unlike South Korea where it only needs to be 95% done.)

Personally, I think they are going to be coy until they can do a blow out of info with the release date attached. This is a one off scenario with Prime 4, Nintendo are never going to announce a game this early ever again, however you do have to consider this........

Like Rockstar, Nintendo are impervious to whatever the rest of the video game industry is doing, they march to the beat of their own drum and do whatever they want. This isnt the Gamecube era anymore, Prime 2 had a reduced schedule due to Nintendo needing to combat potential droughts. Nowadays they dont care at all, they will delay a game for as long as they need to before its up to snuff, for two reasons:

1. Nintendo nowadays is known to finish some games well in advance and sit on them for these very scenarios where an 'anomaly' happens and they need to fill the gap.

2. Nintendo is going to have the best third-party support in its entire history with the Switch 2, so with third parties filling the gaps, they don't have to worry at all. (Dont let the Partner Showcase dampen your optimism, the big boys haven't come out to play yet e.g RDR2)

Metroid Prime 4 is simply going through a similar situation to what Rockstar is going through with GTA VI, they want to keep working on it until they feel it's done and up to their standard, thats it. It's just because of the game being announced too early and the first version being cancelled combined with disjointed marketing its caused fans to panic way more than they should. Don't get all conspiratorial about this.

Will Metroid Prime 4 be delayed to 2026? Honestly, I don't know (though people previously have framed my speculations as fact.) It all hinges on these 'anomalies' being sorted. Retro is full of real talented people that seem to have a knack for circumventing difficult problems. I personally don't think its going to be delayed and think they can hit a November release date (that is a speculation, not a fact journalists!) but be warned, if Nintendo want to delay it, they will delay it, they don't care if you get mad cause as soon as you get your hands on the game, they know all your anger will subside and you'll be overcome with joy and happiness. They don't react to fan outcry, they just block out the noise. (Prime 4 is a little bit of an an exception due to it's unique circumstances and even then they arent saying much, even now)

I want to lastly finish with this, I know there are a number of people who think this is all BS and that I do this for 'clout' and I get it, if I put myself in your shoes I can see how you have that perspective and have your reservations (especially now after Beatemups stupid experiment.) but I assure you that isnt what I am trying to do here. All I have been trying to do as of late is to provide context, whenever I've seen a false narrative gaining traction, I've tried to correct it, that was always the intent, I am going to pull back heavily going forward as I feel like I'm doing more harm than good and I am only posting this to honor my word and do what I said I was going to do regarding giving a Prime 4 update. I get no joy out of posting these tweets, I don't particularly like being the centre of attention and in a perfect world I would rather follow Eminem's lead. He posts music and then he disappears and I'd love to just post interviews and then disappear. As I have mentioned before, a number of devs behind the scenes and reps from Google/Youtube have told me to put myself out there and share more of whats going on as a way of bringing more attention to the industry and the interviews I do, but I wasn't thinking "hmmm maybe I should just say a whole bunch of random shit for clicks"
It is only with Retro Studios/Metroid that I seem to even have this problem, anything else I post, the response is more placid, but I guess if there is one silver lining out of all of this drama is devs getting more shine, it's always been about them, not me. (Which is why, unless I'm talking in an interview, you dont see me in frame.)

Upon reflecting on some of my tweets over the last wee while, I realise, I havent been as clear with my communication as I should've been and for that I apologize if I have unintentionally misled people. I am still trying to navigate this whole being in the spotlight thing (Journalists certainly havent helped matters.)

@theprecinctgame my game just crashed and it deleted my save data... I was going for the 10,000 XP trophy, already had around 9,000 and at least 7 escorted personal bookings and not sure how many I sent out. I was restraining a driver that attacked me, my game crashed. PS5
