I'm a COBOL Dinosaur, still coding remote for major financial client. I've had to improve my talent stack for Linux and AI but until recently the mainframe reigned supreme.
But we have migrated a massive system to Linux, so now my coding is all on my desktop with JCL and Procs converted to scripts.
On the mainframe I used a tool called Expediter that steps through each line of Cobol and shows memory and storage to test a program.
Now, I have no equivalent tool that would do the same on the Linux box. I need a tool that can run Cobol programs line by line matching load module to source, similar to how Expediter works on the mainframe.
Any tools or suggestions, Brian?

I'm happy to see the unclonable encryption problem solved; Prabhanjan Ananth and Amit Sahai report their findings, with the help of the UCLA harness (link below). This was a challenge for the quantum crypto community for the last 6 years.
My take on the AI situation in q information/applied math: it looks like we are on the brink of a revolution that's comparable to the invention of telescopes for astronomy (credit to @martinmbauer for the analogy). We will no longer see things with our naked eye, but... 1/
Crazy times! On July 22 we found a solution to one of the five major problems in quantum information theory usig AI. The problem is distillability or un-distillability of Werner states. We checked the computations and they are correct.
The really crazy thing is this: just around this time there were 2 other groups who cracked this. First there was a group who just recently posted a paper about this on arxiv, it appeared on July 23. Second, there was an announcement from a different group yesterday (July 24) with no arxiv but a public overleaf. We can prove that we had the result before the arxiv paper appeared, and we can post our new paper on monday, it can appear on tuesday. So everybody was pretty much around the same time.
Interestingly, our proof is different from the one on arxiv.

There are a few spammers on X that have been pivoting their strategy for the last 6 months.
One of the them (“This guy is a great trader ⬇️”) has pivoted a total of 40 times after each method has been blocked.
Some of the techniques are so creative and fast that it feels like they’re sitting right next to us.
At this point, we might as well hire them because they are just as familiar with the X codebase as us.
GPT-5.6 Sol has claimed to resolved one of the five major problems in quantum information theory announced by KCIK (which carries a cash prize).
We (@Quantum_Kishor@TobiasHaug_Q ) sat down to verify its claimed proof and surprisingly, we found another paper published the very next day, with NO AI acknowledgment, containing a proof and phrasing similar to what we got when we prompted it ourselves before the result was announced. An interesting coincidence!
