I’m not active on social media much, but I’ve entirely moved any effort to Bluesky. Cross-posting this here:

Short version: gauging interest in a series or livestream for TDDing a PWA w/ minimal browser use. Please respond on that post if interested!
@JacobBennett@jontybehr@LaravelWwMeetup@mateusjatenee Maaaaan these are the kinds of comments that stick with me forever. I’m all in on people, and the tech is just a fun bonus along the way ❤️. You all are amazing and I miss seeing you in person!
@ninjaparade In general if it’s complex, but not slow, I would recommend a standard read view just to avoid having to consider how and when to refresh the materialized view.
@ninjaparade For most we would have the entire query in the app code. Some areas we would load up a view, and those were helpful to keep the queries more obvious. Materialized views are great at loading up the data set once and being performant, but making sure they refresh can be a pain.
I’ve noticed a lot of layoffs recently - hopefully we can get some people new gigs!
Looking for some Rails or full stack engineers to join us at @HeyOyster on our mission to make global hiring available for everyone regardless of where they’re at!

“That’s not my job”
The more senior you become, the more your job will involve filling gaps and stepping up to handle situations that aren’t anyone’s job.
Your job is to make your organization successful. (whatever that means)
There is no “that’s not my job” anymore.
It’s time to say it out loud: BUILD LESS SOFTWARE
Centering too much on adding new functionality will break your product, your users, and your team. Maybe your business. 1/10
@chrsbvr@ShawnMcCool@taylorotwell@daylerees@jesseobrien_ 👋 Hello again! I typically only use Laravel when coaching with it. Professionally it’s been Node, Rails, and various JavaScript libraries for me since 2012. Though to be fair I don’t really code at work much anymore - I’m primarily management the last few years!
@chrsbvr@ShawnMcCool@taylorotwell@daylerees@jesseobrien_ I still hacked around with Laravel & PHP, but wasn’t using it at my day job. I still loved attending Laracon because of the community - made so many awesome friends over the years, and most concepts carry between languages. Added bonus that @taylorotwell throws awesome parties🤘
@CasseyLottman Congratulations on the baby!! Best of luck with whatever method gets you coffee the easiest while you are busy and extremely tired 😴 😊 I hope you enjoy every moment of parenthood.
As a software developer, you may be called upon to perform some of these tasks in your career.
How well a CS degree prepares you for these tasks (and whether it even should prepare you for these) is left as an exercise to the reader.

@adamwathan Looks awesome! Hell of a transformation. We just got our floor replaced last week. Painting Monday and Tuesday and then we can finally reassemble this damn house. It is weird being Christmas time with nearly no decorations up.
