Not necessarily true. There are people who are not able to lead even a small project, and people capable of doing multiple incredible things. Elon Musk governs many projects and does it well. While most of the people would be able to do even 1 project of his.

Chose quality, look at an individuals capabilities, don’t judge by looking at what other projects the person is doing

I get what you mean. But my take is that it’s okay as long as voi members don’t form a majority of the council. Criticizing AF is okay, there are many things to criticize tbh
Not sure about the marketing tactics you mentioned

Using the open source code is also not an issue. Look at how many EVM forks are out there, Vitalik never complained. In fact it’s beneficial for ETH, because all the forks are compatible with them.
