@EssexPR She was remanded for two reasons. She admitted the offence and so a guilty plea was anticipated which brought a custodial sentence. I'd want remanding as it's time off the end but with privileges. Also there were threats to her.

@LeeHurstComic We have never lived in a democracy. Even the Greeks didn't. Every country in the world sits on a spectrum of dictatorship. Some just allow more choices than others.
So saying the House of Lords doesn't make us a democracy is dumb. We don't have one anyway.
