It’s the WNBA who should be “grateful” for Caitlin Clark. Not vice versa.
Instead the league keeps trying to alienate some of the fan base that it should be converting into league-wide supporters.

Here’s the problem: most of these people don’t want to do better. They’ll ignore the experience and calls for action from a majority of the black community in exchange for the few voices who let them off the hook.
This past week I’ve asked myself where can I be most useful to the movement. This is it. This is where we take advantage of our law degrees and all the ways we can use them to help and heal our society.
I’ve seen so many people criticize the protests as being fruitless with no end goal in sight. But raising awareness in and of itself is valuable. But to really make it count we have to capitalize on this captive audience with proposed legal changes at the state and local level.
I know the past few months have been hard and dispiriting. But watching the heightened activism of young people makes me hopeful. And if we can keep channeling our justifiable anger into peaceful, sustained, and effective action, this can be the moment when real change starts.
Verbatim quote from my 8-year-old, delivered with maximum earnestness, as I tucked her in: “I think the only way I can make it through this very difficult time is with the emotional support of a puppy.”
