Having a valid ID might seem like a small thing, but it can make a big difference for people experiencing homelessness. An identification card is often the key to accessing essential services such as healthcare, employment opportunities, and social services. Without it, many individuals face additional barriers when trying to get back on their feet. Compounding the challenge, many individuals experiencing homelessness lack the required forms to obtain a valid ID.

Yesterday afternoon, our Homelessness services coordinator had a great conversation with partners from the @StephenCenterNE Street Outreach Team, Community Alliance, and the Nebraska DMV to brainstorm ways we can all work together to simplify the process of obtaining valid identification for individuals experiencing homelessness. At the DCSO we are committed to working with our partners across the community, and at the state and federal levels, to find common-sense solutions that help individuals break free from homelessness and reclaim their lives.

Thank you to the Lozier Foundation for grant funding our Homelessness Coordinator position that allows for the important and lifechanging collaborations to happen.
