I've been spending a lot of time exploring human habitation of the Flow Country World Heritage Site this winter.
There's 185 shieling sites (mapped) across the area and I've used historical records to find a total of 586 shieling huts. This is only recorded shieling huts.
1/2 I have some thoughts on this "lost village", it wasn't lost or abandoned but cleared of its people, culture, & knowledge. Nestled on the coast of Loch Eynort people were removed by The MacAskills, this event is recorded..
