I'm so angry.
For the second time this week, I've had a child burst into tears the second they've walked through the door.
Because they've gone all day without eating.
There's other kids now stealing food from kids they know have a full lunchbox.
This is bullshit.
And don't you dare tell me to "be patient" with this.
Because if you can stand by and watch a distraught CHILD wail, literally wail, because they are hungry and spout nonsense about what an excellent job this country is doing, you are part of the problem and you can go to hell.
asked my provider to change my in-person appointment to a phone appointment tomorrow, because i'm down in Melbourne (from Ballarat) visiting my partner who's recovering from covid (they're fine). didn't even want to see their med certificate. just instantly said i'm now suspended
$254 billion in tax cuts for the rich and billions more in handouts to big corporations.
$2.85 a day for people on JobSeeker.
$1.12 a day for people on Commonwealth Rent Assistance.
Yep, that seems fair. Well done, Labor. Great cost-of-living-relief budget.
i hope all the "give them time" folk do some serious reflecting tonight. we gave them time, & they've once again betrayed the poor. it's time to take the kid gloves off, and yell, hold your party to account, support welfare orgs. people are going to die #RaiseTheRate#Budget2023
.@latingle: "Is your ambition though to actually...try to lift people out of poverty?"
@SenKatyG: "Every year we would look at the payments, look at what could be done"
A Labor Minister couldn't even say that she wants to lift people out of poverty. Heaven help us #RaiseTheRate
This is amazing folks @CounterActOz and @peacenicsta has come up with this to help you contact your local mp (and more.) this made the process so much easier https://t.co/rRhgbewyv8
Jobseekers: I'm looking at putting together an e-petition.
My experience under the poverty line is as a disabled person and I don't want to step out of my lane or speak over voices I should be amplifying.
What changes do you want to see made?
(I will block any trolls on this)
Fuck Karl Lagerfeld. Here's ten of MY favorite designers that I believe should be highlighted with both a Met Costume Institute exhibit and a gala theme starting with Willi Smith, who invented streetwear as we know it, today.
I can't feel my fingers or toes.
It's now 2°C in my house.
All doors and windows closed.
No heat. No hot water.
But I guess I should just grin and bear it.
Fuck you @AlboMP
You could fix this.
But you're a fucking coward.
@MFWitches@JohnDavisJDLLM Advertising roller skates thru the trading post and had more than one disgusting phone call and we had to change our phone number and I didn’t feel safe walking home from school age 13. But I know there were comments and looks from 10-11.
Wurundjeri Elder Aunty Joy Murphy has been told that she was being “too difficult” and removed from performing a Welcome to Country at @BarackObama’s Melbourne event after asking to bring a support person, and present Mr Obama with a gift.
@JasperPeachSays My teen daughter came home miserable and she took till after dinner to kill with kindness before she was able to tell me what has been in her head. Also I took a mental health day. And my other teen daughter was just singing in the shower which is a good sign.
@1Schoolhouse Yep. I totally agree with this! Might explain why projects get abandoned too. I’m thinking of the bluestone steps I nearly finished in lockdown and still haven’t completed. I love this theory.
As someone who grew up poor (and who struggled for years to make ends meet financially as an adult), I am now understanding why we always had so much stuff in our house and why it was basically impossible to keep it clean/organized.
How appropriately Australian for the police to physically tackle a blak woman to the ground, so that a white woman from England can cry victim while spewing vile nonsense about marginalised people
