@ElenaEG4A @LABoyle2 There are also oral and injectable analgesic (meloxicam), local anaesthetic (lignocaine) registered for use for sheep in Australia. There is also 'NumNuts' that provides an injection of local anaesthetic when the elastic band is released which can be used for castration/docking

Yes lamb marking is acknowledged to be a stressful and painful time for lambs, but practical for extensive systems to do at the same time, and could be more stress with multiple handling and separation.
