Students Blake Phillips, Hasala Ariyaratne, Maddie Sloat, Jordan Dyer and Zenia Grzebin are attending the oral arguments for NRA v. Vullo at #SCOTUS this morning with #GeorgetownLaw’s #SupremeCourt Institute! 🏛️⚖️✨
There are too many stories of kids being injured or even killed by fallen dressers, TVs and other furniture.
I'm proud that my bipartisan STURDY Act is now law to help ensure furniture meets safety standards and children aren't being put at risk in their own homes.
The #STURDYAct, which passed in December, will make safety a requirement for furniture manufacturers. It was great to meet with the advocates who fought so hard for this bill, including so many parents who lost children to furniture tip-over accidents.
Today we are celebrating a new furniture safety law, the STURDY Act, which will help #stoptipovers by ensuring that dressers are tested and built to be safer and more stable before going to market.
BREAKING: In a rare bipartisan win, the Senate just voted to include the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act in the omnibus spending package. The amendment passed 73 to 24.
This has been a years-long fight to guarantee basic accommodations for pregnant workers. It's a very big deal.
My office adds closed captions and alt text to our social media because we know that inclusivity and accessibility bring folks closer to, not further from, the governing process. Accessibility is never a hinderance nor burden—it makes our democracy stronger, actually.
BREAKING: The #STURDYAct has passed the Senate. This is a huge step forward to ensuring rigorous and uniform testing standards for home furniture. Most importantly, we’re a step closer to preventing unimaginable tragedies. https://t.co/zQl8rWoKQq
NOW LIVE: I’m leading a @SenateAging hearing on stopping senior scams and frauds.
AHORA EN VIVO: estoy presidiendo una audiencia de @SenateAging sobre cómo prevenir las estafas y los fraudes contra los adultos mayores. https://t.co/GcMnWPXiV0
Pennsylvania crudités. Braddock, PA’s finest. Pro brick. Maybe if @DrOz drops out now and apologizes, New Jersey will let him come back. 10/10 @JohnFetterman
My office stands in solidarity with @unitehere23 and the Senate Cafeteria Workers who are fighting for fair wages and contracts. Instead, we ordered food for a #solidaritypizzaparty.
The final paragraph of the three liberals' Dobbs dissent:
"With sorrow—for this Court, but more, for the many millions of American women who have today lost a fundamental constitutional protection—we dissent. "
BREAKING: @commercedems just voted to send my bill, the #STURDYAct, to the Senate floor. I’m proud to say that we’re one step closer to making furniture safer for kids and preventing tragedies at home. https://t.co/Tv7gXf7hEy
I believe every worker deserves the right to join a union and collectively bargain, and that includes congressional staff.
We need to pass the #PROAct because our Nation and our economy are better off when workers have a voice.
