There's a good chance your client had taken input credit for the GST you paid. In cases where they haven't made the payment, they are supposed to declare that to the GST department and return/ repay it. This is a solid complaint to the GST department. If you have written it off already, considered raising a complaint in the GST portal. Another option is drafting a complaint using ChatGPT and emailing the client about this and giving them a final opportunity to pay your dues.
This worked for my dad's business and were able to recover some unpaid dues from his clients.
