At the Global Assembly of Volunteers, held as part of the International Year of Volunteers for Sustainable Development at the International Festival of Youths in Ekaterinburg, Russia, I had the opportunity to be part of an important conversation alongside my friends and fellow panellists Artem, Andrey, Raymond, and Zarnigor.

Together, we explored a crucial question: How do we make a 25-year-old Declaration relevant to the realities and aspirations of today’s world?

As volunteering evolves, so must the frameworks that guide it. Our discussion reflected on the importance of rethinking existing commitments, embracing new realities, and shaping a more inclusive and impactful future for volunteerism worldwide.

Because the future of volunteering is about building a vision that inspires generations to come 🤝🌍

SLOW POISION — AMC SEALS FARSAN UNIT AT AHMEDABAD

अहमदाबाद नगर निगम (AMC) ने दानिलिमदा इलाके में स्थित 'ए.एन. गृह उद्योग' (एक फरसान बनाने वाली इकाई) को सील कर दिया है। जांच के दौरान वहां खाद्य सुरक्षा और स्वच्छता के कई नियमों का उल्लंघन पाया गया, जिसमें नमकीन स्नैक्स में प्रतिबंधित रंगों का इस्तेमाल और तलने वाले तेल का बार-बार उपयोग करना शामिल है। इसके बाद, AMC ने वहां से 1,010 किलोग्राम खाद्य सामग्री जब्त कर ली।

AMC के स्वास्थ्य और खाद्य विभाग ने खाद्य सुरक्षा सुनिश्चित करने और जनस्वास्थ्य की रक्षा के लिए चलाए जा रहे अपने अभियान के तहत, दानिलिमदा के गुडलक एस्टेट (शालीमार एस्टेट) स्थित गोदाम नंबर 4 में मौजूद इस इकाई का निरीक्षण किया।

निरीक्षण के दौरान, अधिकारियों ने पाया कि यह यूनिट 'खाद्य सुरक्षा और मानक अधिनियम, 2006' (Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006) के तहत 'अनुसूची 4' (Schedule 4) की आवश्यकताओं का पालन नहीं कर रही थी। परिसर में साफ-सफाई की भारी कमी थी, और वहां काम करने वाले कर्मचारी बिना कैप, हेयरनेट या एप्रन के काम कर रहे थे।

निरीक्षण में यह भी सामने आया कि फरसान बनाने में ऐसे खाद्य रंगों (food colours) का इस्तेमाल किया जा रहा था, जिनकी अनुमति नहीं है। साथ ही, तलने के लिए इस्तेमाल होने वाले तेल का बार-बार उपयोग किया जा रहा था। अधिकारियों ने यह भी पाया कि यूनिट द्वारा फरसान की पैकेजिंग में 'भारतीय खाद्य सुरक्षा और मानक प्राधिकरण' (FSSAI) द्वारा तय किए गए लेबलिंग नियमों का पालन नहीं किया जा रहा था।

इस निरीक्षण के बाद, विभाग ने कुल 1,010 किलोग्राम खाद्य सामग्री जब्त कर ली या उसे रोक दिया। इसमें मैदा, मसाले, मूंगफली, झिनी सेव और फारसी पूरी जैसी चीजें शामिल थीं।

AI call assistant is a nice initiative to automate and help passengers in-time!

However, while I called the @AdaniOnline care number while flying from @ahmairport, the AI Assistant kept asking me the same question for the first four minutes and it took an another four minutes for the human assistant to help. Is someone there checking these technologies before rolling out?

Neerja Bhanot was a 22 year old flight attendant on a hijacked plane, Pan Am Flight 73 on 5 September 1986 during a stopover

The terrorists demanded her to collect the passports of all the passengers, intending to identify the Americans among them.

Recognising the danger this posed, she and her fellow attendants under her charge hid the passports of the American passengers, some under seats and others down a garbage chute, making it difficult for the hijackers to distinguish between nationalities.

As the hijacking stretched on for 17 hours the terrorists eventually resorted to violence by opening fire and setting off explosives. Chaos erupted inside the aircraft

Neerja opened one of the airplane doors, and even though she could have been the first one to escape from the aircraft, she did not do so and instead started helping the other passengers and unaccompanied children. That is when she was caught and her courage was met with extreme cruelty. She was killed.

Neerja's actions saved many lives.

In addition to saving the lives of many hostages, Neerja Bhanot also helped prevent the plane from getting off the ground

A young child on board, who was just seven years old at the time, grew up to become a captain for a major airline. He credits Neerja as his inspiration, acknowledging that he owes every day of his life to her
