@BGardnerBooks Romance has always had an audience, so it’s interesting seeing how often people suddenly question whether it’s “still popular.” From an artist’s perspective, the demand for romance covers definitely doesn’t seem to be disappearing anytime soon.
@MichaelFKane The PG-13 F-bomb analogy is so spot on. It’s the difference between background noise and a sudden thunderclap. When every character is firing off profanity every second line, the impact drops to zero. Overuse kills contrast in writing just as fast as it does in illustration.
@HelloSarahJoe Absolutely. You can't render atmosphere visually or in text if you haven't sat there and really observed it first. Art and writing are both just deep observation wrapped in imagination!
@realmattfalcon So many authors don't realize typography is art, not just text laid on top of an image. When I design a cover, integrating custom lettering with the illustration from day one makes all the difference between "self-published" and "bestseller" vibes.
Have an original tabletop RPG character, OC, or comic idea you want brought to life? I’m opening 3 slots for 2D/3D character concepts this month. DM me your references to get started!
friends, the people who make publishing happen are those who don't give up. persevere. you have to want it more than anyone else and stay in the game. it's a long game. sometimes years long. but you have to want it.
