For the second consecutive year, our agency had the privilege of hosting a special guest to discuss the 9/11 attacks. We were honored to have Allison Crowther, the Mother of Welles Crowther, who selflessly sacrificed his life to save others on that fateful day. Welles, famously known as "the man in the red bandana," was remembered at Bricker Price Block in Earlham for the Senior Speaker Series. Additionally, Allison shared Welles' story and the "power of one" with 7th-grade students in Winterset. A heartfelt thank you to Kevin Johnson of Lynnville Sully Schools for his invaluable partnership in educating young minds about the impact of 9/11 on our nation and the homeland security landscape.

Come out to meet and listen to Allison Crowther on Tuesday, October 1st, 2024 at 10 AM as part of 2024 Senior Speaker Series at Bricker Price Block in Earlham.

Allison is the mother of Welles Crowther who you may have heard of as the "Man in the Red Bandana". Welles gave his life helping others escape the World Trade Center’s South Tower on September 11th, 2001.

Madison County has a slight possibility of experiencing seeing active weather this evening. The primary area is Northen Iowa, however we cannot rule out seeing some wind and hail this afternoon into the evening as the county is in the slight risk area. We will be monitoring throughout the day.

Today we reflect on the events of 9/11 that happened 23 years ago. We must never forget the many lives lost and affected from the attack on our nation. All of us must continue to be vigilant in our safety and remember the courage of those in and out of uniform on this day. Let us focus on staying together in the chaos of uncertainty in this world. We will never forget.
