Later today, the House will vote on the FY27 NDAA to strengthen our military and keep America safe.

I'm proud this year's bill includes provisions I fought for to support North Georgia defense manufacturers, strengthen the Georgia Air National Guard's aerial firefighting mission, improve human performance programs for our troops, and secure our military's medicine supply chain.

I am looking forward to voting yes. Semper Fi.

Tim Walz knew about fraud in Minnesota's social programs in 2019. He had the power to stop payments. He did not.

Result: $300M in child nutrition funds gone. Up to $9B in Medicaid funds lost or at serious risk.

His team then retaliated against the state employees who tried to stop it.

This is not incompetence. This is a choice. The Oversight Committee's report makes that clear—time for President Trump's Anti-Fraud Task Force to go in and find every dollar.

When I was 19 years old, I was sent to South Korea on my first assignment in the Army. Yesterday, more than 25 years later, I was able to meet with about a dozen North Korean defectors. Their stories are inspiring and serve as a reminder to all of us that freedom can never, ever, be taken for granted.

I showed them one of my prized keepsakes from my time in the Army — a piece of barbed wire taken from inside the DMZ during the 50th anniversary of the Korean War. It was a gift from the South Korean government while I was on duty there. Amazingly, I met a young man named Yang Il Chul, who crossed that same DMZ to gain his freedom less than one year ago.

In 1964, Ronald Reagan gave his famous speech, “A Time for Choosing,” and included these remarks about meeting a Cuban defector:

“Not too long ago, two friends of mine were talking to a Cuban refugee, a businessman who had escaped from Castro, and in the midst of his story, one of my friends turned to the other and said, ‘We don't know how lucky we are.’ And the Cuban stopped and said, ‘How lucky you are? I had someplace to escape to.’ And in that sentence, he told us the entire story. If we lose freedom here, there's no place to escape to. This is the last stand on earth.”

I was reminded of this quote yesterday, and I pray we redouble our efforts to protect freedom here in America.
