I was watching the @Macys Thanksgiving Day Parade with my family and heard familiar voices. It was @madisonschemitz and her mother who are not only clients, but inspirations. And it was a 60 second commercial for @BrooksRehab which has changed more of my client’s lives than anywhere else. From helping Ishika Lay after a brain injury, to helping people walk after motorcycle crashes, the doctors and medical professionals there are top tier.

I've had the honor of working for some spectacular families and some amazing people. I watched as @lucymcbath went from shooting victim who lost her son to US Congresswoman. I've seen over 100 Schneider kids grow up and use settlement money for college. Multiple people have put pieces back together and some even made the world better because tragedy happened. We've got a cast of the nation’s worst villains locked up while seeing justice get it right in case after case. Not always. But almost.

Folks, @madisonschemitz is special. Her mother Jackie Roge is special. Madison took one of the worst tragedies imaginable and learned to walk again and then inspired others to run. Today, she poured her soul out into the world and did it as a story of inspiration and triumph. She admitted to all that she's like a duck- smooth on the surface but working hard under it. We all should approach adversity like that.

I got to sit there for 12 hours and watch criminal justice in action. Two stellar lawyers fighting for every word. A judge who was visibly torn about how to define fair. And one of the best law enforcement agencies @TeamSJSO show how they both support residents and solve crime. It was inspirational but also tragic to hear the moans of a family who lost their child to a life sentence. As they all wonder what if we had done more.

I'll end with this. Do. More. NOW. Teach your boys to respect women. Boundaries. Watch your children- whether using technology to spread hate or text harassing messages. Parent your children NOW. Love them. Teach them. When its too late, its too late.
