There is also problems with the data itself - for example, Krakatoa blew its top in 1883, and we know that the eruption lowered global temperatures by more than 1 C for around 5 years, which messes up the average +-.

@charlesmurray I think most everyone can learn basic algebra. It is certainly a struggle for some. Having gotten my BS in pure mathematics, I then went to teach high school with the idea that "everyone can understand and do math like I can; they just need the right instruction". I was wrong.
