Arbeloa is being very honest in these last remaining pressers and it's very eye opening. As I wrote about it here, you can't ignore the defensive structure of the team when Vini is paired with one of Brahim (and rarely, but also GG). Paradoxically the team doesn't have trouble scoring without Mbappe either. Players like Fede and Jude get more offensive freedom. Vinicius plays with more confidence. But it can't come down due injuries to wait to see this version of Real Madrid every time (with the obvious caveat that this particular game is meaningless, but there is a solid 2-year sample size of what doesn't work) for the board to realize they need to make a huge decision, otherwise accept that we get a few more years of failure.

If there is a coach that can come on and get Mbappe to sacrifice then I will build him a statue. But I don't see it. He is 27. He is who he is, and pairing him with Vinicius definitely doesn't work. If you want to build around him, you can't do it as currently constructed. The mistakes that were made were made. You have to cut losses and it's not going to be easy.

For this reason I am pretty pessimistic about next season as well, because I'm skeptical they'll make the right decisions to move the needle enough.

🇮🇹👮‍♀️ À Rome, la police est intervenue après un signalement de pleurs très forts provenant d’un appartement. Quatre agents se sont rendus sur place et ont découvert Jole, 84 ans, et son mari Michele, 94 ans, chez eux. Heureusement, aucun drame : le couple était simplement bouleversé en regardant les informations à la télévision.

Jole avait demandé à son mari pourquoi les nouvelles étaient si négatives ce jour-là. L’émotion l’a submergée, ses sanglots ont inquiété le voisinage… et quelqu’un a appelé la police.

Mariés depuis près de 70 ans, ils ont confié aux agents qu’ils se sentaient très seuls et que cela faisait longtemps que personne ne leur avait rendu visite. Les policiers ont aussi réalisé qu’ils n’avaient pas partagé un véritable repas depuis un moment.

En attendant l’arrivée d’une ambulance pour s’assurer que tout allait bien, deux agents ont décidé de leur préparer un dîner simple : des spaghettis au beurre et au parmesan, tandis que leurs collègues restaient discuter avec eux.

Ce jour-là, il n’y avait pas de crime à résoudre. Mais il y avait quelque chose d’essentiel à offrir : un peu de présence, de chaleur humaine et de compassion.

Et parfois, c’est tout ce dont quelqu’un a besoin. ❤️
