How we have unified the different industry approaches to referencing rail journeys, making it easy to identify historic journeys https://t.co/9kyMT0IhM7 #rail#data#analytics#api#delayrepay
@TfL I think we know that topological maps shape geographic perceptions even though they are not to scale. Given that, the new Overground map https://t.co/rwJH1429sH is placing Cheshunt in NW London, which is seriously wrong. The designers were slaves to A4 frame and must rethink
Excellent day at #railinnovation2023 with some great conversations about the data we can deliver on rail performance from the customer POV. The only downer was to hear DfT talking about HS2 as if nothing had happened to trash a vital national infrastructure project...
TransportAPI are now offering time-travel-as-a-service for the rail network. We can tell you what the predicted times were as you waited for the train in the past (and how the actual times panned out). And its all available at an API so you can surface it anywhere.📷
Surreal friendly-fire experience while cycling. Crossing a cycle crossing on green with other bikes we had to swerve to avoid a fast food delivery bike on the main road running the red light and furiously ringing his bell at us for being in the way. I guess there's a hierarchy...
Tomorrow 5pm Havant Planning Cmtee could grant retrospective planning permission for this wedding venue in Chichester Harbour SSSI in breach of all nature conservation rules https://t.co/i9v4kZaU60. You can object here https://t.co/LZ8rYiv6iM or tell @havantborough what you think
Please object to a nationally significant development in Chichester Harbour (https://t.co/LZ8rYiv6iM) where a wedding venue has been operating without planning permission in a SSSI for 10 years https://t.co/i9v4kZaU60 Deadline August 31st! #naturalengland#SSSI@GeorgeMonbiot
Announcing the TAPI Rail Performance managed service (https://t.co/psb5QRJZur). Track every historic train at the API with cancellations, actual and expected times recorded minute-by-minute. See blog at https://t.co/RcXrsvtPaA for details.
This was an attempt to show my bus office on @mylynxbus Coastliner in Norfolk yesterday, but it turned into some kind of bus Mondrian. It sorta works...
Family carbon reduction plan:
1. Solar panels on roof ✅
2. Electric vehicle ✅
3. Public transport to schools ✅
4. Cycle to shops/ green delivery ✅
5. NEST: in top 20% heat efficient users 🆗
6. Nothing to landfill… still WIP
More to do but a good start
Well it does work. You can take your bike off-peak on the Elizabeth line. But the lifts are difficult to navigate due to confusing signage. The ‘you are here diagrams’ show schematics with no levels but in the lifts they give levels not marked on the diagrams!
Today’s travel challenge: taking a non-folding bike on the Elizabeth Line to Heathrow for a meeting. You can only enter with a bike at some stations and only travel in certain directions at certain times. So let’s see if this works😬
Thanks for the kind words @jeremy_morley and @Henkjscholten. I really can’t complain… my life is rich but over full. Now, though, I feel the need to get my head up
OK, I’ve been too long away. If Elon is indahouse I feel the need to return to keep an eye on him. Where have I been? Running a company in tough times. Bringing up teenagers. Burying a parent. Moving house. Running an environmental campaign. Swerving the permacrisis. That’s where
@SW_Help We understand it’s difficult out there. My complaint was that the staff told a child aged 15 in a place he has never been to that there was going to be no alternative transport. Clearly that wasn’t the case, so Id just be asking for some re-assurance and guidance to wait for help
@SW_Help Obviously a difficult night on the SWR line with bad weather, but your station staff at Haslemere have left a child there and told him there is no help to get him to Havant. Thats not right- could you please advise timescales for bus or taxi and advise your staff to help
