On this day, Bangladesh was under a nationwide “shoot-on-sight” curfew following clashes between police and student demonstrators that had left more than 114 people dead. Attached is @Channel4News ’ report from that day.

Internet and mobile services had been suspended since July 18 as authorities moved to contain the unrest.

The report was among the first by international media to state that junior officers of the Bangladesh Army had refused orders to fire on protesters — choosing instead to stand with the people.
