Looking like a rough ride for the Scottish Government’s climate policies. I see the knives are out for Scotland’s Heat in Buildings proposals.
These were strong proposals to decarbonise Scottish buildings over time, targeting the critical point of sale.
If not this, then what?
Lots of people asking about Scotland's climate targets today (understandably).
We won't comment before we see what the Scottish Government is planning, but our position on the 🏴2030 target is already very clear. It was in two key bits of advice, published already.
🧵
Our WWF asks on how to support Scottish farmers transitioning to environmentally and economically sustainable future:
1. Fund nature and climate actions
2. Invest in advice and skills development
3. Guarantee nutritional security
Swiss climate policy shortcomings violated human rights. The European Court of Human Rights's (ECtHR) decision on a case brought by more than 2,000 elderly Swiss women, @KlimaSeniorin, set a precedent that will resonate across Europe and beyond.

I agree: Action on climate change will also deliver warmer homes, healthier air, and more resilient and thus more profitable farms. There's never been a more critical time for us all to redouble our efforts. I Look forward to @ScotGovFM@HumzaYousaf's response. @MairiMcAllan
@clemetivier Alarming, but perhaps also a positive sign of food FINALLY being discussed how it need to. Until now agriculture has escaped scrutiny, now they need to prepare for a fight.
🚨Not surprising but alarming: industrial #agriculture companies are coming to the #COP28 climate summit to promote business-as-usual.
👉To really transform #FoodSystems for people & planet, meat consumption MUST be reduced in wealthy countries.

Ahead of @COP28_UAE, appreciated the opportunity to discuss with @ScotGovFM@HumzaYousaf the importance of doubling down on delivery today of climate action domestically & the continued role Scotland can play as 'helpful disrupter' for a fair and just transition globally.
Deputy First Minister @ShonaRobison visited Marshill Farm in North Lanarkshire to congratulate it on receiving funding.
The farm is part of Scottish Organic Dairy Goals 2023, a network of 21 organic dairy producers that was awarded more than £28,000.
Great to see our very own @madsffm advocating for lower carbon nature-friendly #farming on this site visit in his role with the Scottish Organic Stakeholder Group
Was great to be able to meet with @ScotGovFM@HumzaYousaf along with colleagues from @ScotLINK, @sccscot to discuss action on climate and nature, #COP28, and how to deliver a #JustTransition that is fair for workers, communities & consumers.
Mads @madsffm on market levers & turning the tide of consumer demand:
“Fixing the food system isn't just about saving the world. Food is about purity, taste, enjoyment, culture.
We have to make a market for the things we love – how do we conserve what we’re losing? We eat it.”

From today this peaceful picnic would be a crime, carrying a possible prison sentence. A 🧵 on the new Public Order Act and my personal view on it. (1/8)
