Really incredible work by @ggwash here. Two things to highlight:
1) 63% of residents support allowing fourplexes everywhere in DC.
2) 63% of voters would be less likely to support a candidate that voted against more housing.
@alanthefisher like yes it had a lot of issues with the design BUT there was literally funding allocated multiple times to fix it and expand it to actually useful destinations that were repeatedly killed off!
@alanthefisher@maustermuhle Hopefully the new mayor can push for more density+transit? JLG explicitly referenced Paris as the goal in her GGWash survey.
@maxdubler 2 stairs in a small building is just silly tbh. My old apartment had each stairwell on either side of the elevator with a tiny (useless) hallway between them. It's just obvious how silly the whole thing is in such a context.
@yhdistyminen this is quite literally true of anyone on twitter lol. the average person just doesn't care about you being weird on the internet, yet people like eigen have convinced themselves they're the center of the world
@big_pedestrian growing up people in ND claimed that we had the largest nuclear arsenal so we could be independent
very funny considering how well that's working out for Ukraine, pretty sure 40 million vs 700k people in this case would not be a viable resistance
@GuiveAssadi@cairoasmith Came here to say this. A lot of the factors behind the Chinese century of humiliation were self-inflicted as they refused to modernize both technology and political systems since they had been so dominant for so long.
By the time they tried to change course, it was too late.
@shashj Thanks for being one of the only outlets covering this with the levity and context that is necessary. Whatever might be in the best interests of the Venezuelan people, Trump has not proven he cares.
@GraphCrimes what comes next is what really scares me. If we can just arrest random world leaders what's stopping Russia and China from doing the same to Ukraine and Taiwan?
@GregNotSure@Urban_Immerser@diaper@milesintransit1 But Greyhound isn't a service! It's a for-profit corporation that abandons its users and has completely given up on multiple cities with populations greater than that of entire states! Do people in those cities simply not need transportation?!
@bryancsk this is quite literally one of the main reasons I use Linux. There was geniune innovation that took place on Desktop Windows/Mac for about 20 years that we were behind on but now they're getting worse so we literally have to do nothing and win!
@krito_carde@kevinxu on sale in the last few months I've gotten 2-3 frozen pizzas at Safeway for $5 a piece (and not the crappy DiGiorno, but the "fancy" ones)
