On 9 July 2025, Cloud Innovation filed a petition with the Mauritius Court for the Winding-Up of AFRINIC. The Court set a 24 July 2025 deadline for interested parties to file support or opposition to the petition, with the potential for the court to resolve the matter quickly. On 18 July 2025, the government of Mauritius named AFRINIC a “Declared Company”, which many believe protects AFRINIC from being wound up at this time per the Mauritian Companies Act of 2001. Today, ICANN made a filing with the Mauritius Court to oppose the petition and to ensure that the courts are aware of the overall situation and key facts, including the role of AFRINIC in the African numbering space and the public interest nature of being an RIR. #ICANN #Afrinic
